Biography

Since I was young, I enjoyed writing and all things creative. I wrote and illustrated short stories when I was in grade school, and the publishing kit I received for Christmas when I was 8 years old is still at the top of my "Best Christmas Gifts Ever" list. As I grew older, I was the kid who enjoyed editing and revising friends' term papers to help boost their grades. Expression through words comes easily to me, and luckily, I've always enjoyed it.

An only child, I grew up in the college town of Bloomington, Ind., surrounded by the Hoosiers and a college basketball atmosphere, relishing the summers when the students would leave and the town would clear out. Despite being far from my extended family out of state, the element of family in my life has made a strong impact, instilling in me a sense of commitment and community that I incorporate daily into both my attitude and work ethic.

When considering college, I wanted a small school with a social atmosphere, and Butler University on the northside of Indianapolis was all of that and much more (like an unbelievable basketball team in the spring of 2010).  My natural abilities and interests made becoming a journalism major an easy choice, and the love I have for storytelling, creativity, media and politics expanded through courses ranging from marketing and advertising, communications, print and broadcast journalism, political science and photography.

In my spare time, I love traveling, eating, and writing about it. I've enjoyed snorkeling in the Florida Keys, wine tasting in Santa Barbara, and am never afraid to be "that" tourist with the camera. In the fall of 2008, I lived in Washington, D.C. while interning in the U.S. Capitol -- and it still reigns as my favorite city in the States. I love to cook, and am inspired daily by a passion for nutrition and wellness. My secret talent: singing. I was vocally trained for five years. Always interested in the lives of others, I love to read biographies of just about anyone. ...And going to concerts never gets old.

I currently work as a publicist / media specialist for BohlsenPR, Inc., in Indianapolis. While I seek publicity for a variety of the clients partnered with us, I work primarily in book publicity. I serve as the lead on multiple book campaigns housed under Author Solutions, working with self-published authors to gain publicity for their books locally, nationally and globally. I have significant experience in media relations, garnering interviews in all types of media outlets for authors and pitching to both prominent media and niche markets to generate interest in books.
I am strongly committed to constantly developing and maintaining communication skills to initiate innovative techniques in expanding the capabilities of organizations and to foster mutually beneficial professional relationships. My goal-oriented personality, strong attention to detail and commitment to an ethical center allows me to make a positive impact to both my work and to those around me.
